There are many physical stressors for kids as they grow and develop. Our bodies are made to adapt to stress but often parents underestimate the amount of stress our kids are under. Often these little traumas get shrugged off because kids are resilient and “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” But in reality, these traumas add up and affect their bodies, especially their developing spine and nervous system.
Bones are constantly remodeling in response to the stresses placed on them. What kind of stresses can cause subluxations in kids? Several things can, including falls, sports injuries, repetitive poor posture (like video gaming or reading), heavy backpacks, poor diet, chemical stressors (medication, cleaning supplies, etc), emotional stress and even just rapid growth. Even though kids often bounce back from falls or accidents, these stresses can causes changes that can lead to problems down the road. Chiropractic care decreases the chance of problems arising in the future. We get one spine for our whole lifetime. It is important to take care of the one we have! Make chiropractic a family affair! Both Dr. Tiffany and Dr. Toni have specialty training through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
